Diveline Club Trip to Farne Isles

Day 1 September 18th

After loading the van at Diveline we set of for Seahouses Northumberland, it was a very easy but long journey very few hold ups, we arrived at the Olde School House late afternoon to meet up with almost all of the rest of the crew, a couple were to arrive late and one didn’t make it due to work. With all the rooms sorted and everyone ready we headed off to the local public house “the Links Hotel” for a couple of beers and a meal then back to the B&B for a well-earned rest.

Day 2 September 19th

After an easy start and a full English breakfast we got down to the Quay for 10am, what a glorious day the sun was shining and the sea was flat. We had the fun of getting kitted up on the quay and carrying the gear down the steps to the boat. We set off out of the harbour to a lovely flat sea no seasick pills today, at our first dive site the beauty of a mid-week trip we were the only boat around so had the seals to ourselves and they wanted to play, on to the next site more seals and lots of fun.

We then headed back to the harbour to unload to empty cylinders and take them to be refilled then head back to the B&B to shower and get ready for the evening, back to the Links Hotel for a few beers and a good meal, I say a good meal a challenge on the menu was taken up by Richard it’s the “Mega Maxi Burger challenge”.

With the challenge issued Richard got ready with some help from David, but it was not the outcome we all wanted after a valiant effort he was finally beaten and requested a doggy bag or 2!!!!! So with no tee-shirt and £25 lighter we all went home to find a request for an earlier start the next day 8am at the quay that means breakfast at about 7am OMG!!!

Day 3 September 20th

At the quay at about 8am ready for another day playing with the seals, once again we are the only ones there so we can park right by the steps. So off we go again for some more seal action, and there were plenty around but not to playful this morning but we still had fun with the ones that where there. The second dive was better lots of seals all wanting to play.

Also a few other creatures not quite so friendly so with our diving down we now headed back to the harbour and the task of unloading the boat, with that done the only thing to do now was head for the pub and an afternoon drink in the garden of the Bamburgh castle Inn.
Then back to the B&B to dry some gear do some packing and rest after an early start before our last visit to the Links Hotel for a meal and a couple of beers we did ask Richard if he wanted to try the Mega Burger Challenge again but as he was still eating the last one he declined the offer and just had a dessert?

Day 4 September 21st

After a lay in and a very nice breakfast it was time to pack the van and start our journey home.
